HYDROGYN To Work With Legendary Producer MICHAEL WAGENER
May 20, 2005West Virginia's HYDROGYN have announced that they will be entering the studio with legendary record producer Michael Wagener this summer to record their major debut, tentatively entitled "Bombshell".
Wagener, who mixed METALLICA's "Master of Puppets" and produced OZZY OSBOURNE's "No More Tears" and SKID ROW's "Slave to the Grind", among other multi-platinum albums, paid the band the highest compliment, going on record with the magic words,"They will be big, very big."
Wagener's passion has been matched by sponsorships from Budweiser, Pepsi, Harley Davidson, Off-The-Rim Racing and Mountain Dew, along with Southern California marketing firm Thunderground Media, helmed by Brian Coles, who owns Electricbasement.com and who also consults many major industry projects behind the scenes. Commented Coles: "I have never in my seven years dealing with the hard rock and metal industry seen a band with so much potential. They have absolutely every aspect covered from talent, presentation and work ethic. I am convinced 2006 will be the year HYDROGYN drops a bomb on the scene."
The band, led by the stunning vocalist Julie Westlake, has garnered major industry attention since their indie debut, "Best Served With Volume", was issued in September 2004. The fivesome, rounded out by Jeff Westlake (guitars),Jeff Boggs (guitars),Jason Fields (bass) and Jerry Lawson (drums),has done the unthinkable for an unsigned act — sold out major clubs from the Midwest to the East Coast and headlined the Budweiser True Music Festival in Huntington, West Virginia.
Once the band is heard, it becomes clear why they have taken hold so quickly. Jeff Westlake explains, "This band is built to appeal to modern rock fans but also fans of timeless heavy rock music. The combination of Julie's amazing voice and our bombastic sound has gone over very, very well with audiences of all ages."
Coles chimes in, "This is the band the industry has been waiting for. The hooks and look are massive."
HYDROGYN are currently wrapping up their "Bombs Away" North American Tour and are preparing to enter the studio in July. More information, including sound clips, can be found at the group's brand-new web site, www.hydrogyn.com.
